AdKids ripoff child model management scam

We went through a similar story as this ripoff report. It took over a month between the "photoshoot" and the photos being posted and we never got a single call from the agency or from Don Joseph Voight.

Of course the company can easily hide behind the fact that this is a competitive business and all that crap, but you have more chances in winning the lottery than getting your kid to get a job through AdKids (212-542-3118). They basically take your money to post a photo (for which you pay extra) on a website. Then maybe something happens. Even if the testimonials are real, the pool of kids is huge and nobody at AdKids is going to do anything more than putting your kid's photo out there. Making a picture of your baby available for five hundred bucks is not worth it.

Naturally no serious advertiser will work with a company like that.

Eating Geneva

I haven't been back to Geneva for over a year and got some time for local eating. Here're a few places I liked.

Le Nabuchodonosor

Tea Room Parc Bertrand

Cinecitta

Cafe du Rond-Point

Cafe Jules-Vernes

Vivendo

Le Chausse Coq

Le Nabuchodonosor was really a pleasant surprise. Nice heavy Swiss cooking in a more modern version, foams included. Le Chausse Coq is run by a very funny old man and has been there for the last 40 years and, believe it or not, despite living two blocs away from it for several years I've never been. Much recommended. Amongst bad surprises of American influence was to see an Au Pain Quotidien, across from Tea Room de Parc Bertrand packed. Sigh.

Борис Мессерер, Эрнст Неизвестный и Лев Давыдов

I was visiting my family and brought something rather exciting back to the United States: two drawings that Boris Messerrer (Борис Мессерер) gave to my grandfather, Lev Davydov (Lomberg) and a draft sketch by the more famous Ernst Neizvestny (Эрнст Неизвестный). My grandfather was a political author. The drawings are signed and I believe never got published.

Do you know what you're up against?

My day job had a fun booth at Oracle Open World. We hired the two time sumo world champion, Byambajav Ulambayar for our booth! And yes, we're a database security risk and compliance company. For once this is some good marketing.

ICG Refinancing Letter or "thank you the internet from saving me from being dumb"</strippe

I get lots of spam snail mail, including mortgage lenders trying to sell some amazing deal that turns out to be a huge upfront cost and not much of a saving. Sure, we can refinance your 6.25% loan down to 5% after you have paid half of the remaining loan in fees.

This one I got from ICG (Intercontinenal Capital Group) looked suprisingly legit. It claimed to be a follow-up, and I rarely open my mail. It claimed to be official and had no pretty pictures. The kind of letter you get from the US.gov. Anyway, it's the same crap and someone did the research for me.

Btw, I am glad the U.S. government is helping someone somewhere who can't afford their house not to be in the street. I am glad rates have fallen and refinancing is available. But if someone gives you a deal that's too good to be true, the old rule of thumb applies, it's just a scam.
